Honda Civic Hatchback vs Honda Civic Sedan
Honda Civic Hatchback vs Sedan: Performance
The Civic hatchback and sedan offer the same two engine choices:
- Standard 4-cylinder engine: 158 horsepower and 138 lb-ft of torque
- Available turbocharged 4-cylinder engine: 180 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque
The difference comes in via the transmissions. The Civic sedan engines are only able to be paired with a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). The hatchback, on the other hand, comes standard with a CVT and offers an available 6-speed manual transmission on either engine.
The performance similarities return with the available 3-Mode Drive System and paddle shifters, both of which are found on the Sport and Touring trims of the sedan and the Sport and Sport Touring trims of the hatchback when you select the CVT. Modes include ECON, Normal, and Sport to adjust to various driving preferences.
Honda Civic Hatchback vs Sedan: Interior Amenities & Cargo Room
Inside both the Civic hatchback and sedan, you’ll find an array of similar amenities to keep you and passengers comfortable. A standard automatic climate control system or available Dual-Zone Automatic Climate Control will start things off by cooling down or warming up the cabin.
When it gets cold, you’ll appreciate the available heated front seats that are available on both models. Both also offer available leather-trimmed seats, as well as an available 8-way power driver’s seat and 4-way power passenger’s seat.
The main interior difference is with the cargo room, which will be greater on the Civic hatchback. While the sedan offers a spacious 14.8 cubic feet of storage space, the hatchback provides up to 24.5 cubic feet to hold even more gear. In addition, the hatchback offers a standard 60/40-split fold for the rear row, while sedan drivers will have to upgrade to see that feature.
Honda Civic Hatchback vs Sedan: Exterior Colors and Features
The Civic hatchback and sedan offer many of the same color choices, including the following:
- Rallye Red
- Lunar Silver Metallic
- Crystal Black Pearl
You’ll see some differences in the blue shades, like a bright Boost Blue Pearl on the hatchback and slightly darker Aegean Blue Metallic on the sedan. A unique choice found only on the hatchback is Smokey Mauve Pearl, a deep and shiny purple shade. The sedan, on the other hand, offers Morning Mist Metallic, which is a light silver shade.
Just like the interior features, many of the exterior features will be the same. Both the Civic hatchback and sedan include standard LED headlights and taillights. Upgrades to LED fog lights, as well as heated power side mirrors, are available on both.
