Honda CR-V Dashboard Light Guide

Honda CR-V Dashboard Light Guide

When you turn on your Honda CR-V, you’ll notice certain dashboard lights come on and then shut off. However, sometimes a certain light will be blinking or stay on, which may need your vehicle needs maintenance.

If you’re driving around Milwaukee, Greenfield, or Waukesha, Wisconsin, and a dashboard light comes on, it’s important to know what service is being signaled. With this Honda CR-V dashboard light guide, you’ll be better able to identify what the different symbols mean.

Read through this guide to learn more about specific symbols. If you see one of these lights and think service is needed, contact our team at Schlossmann Honda City to schedule an appointment. If you’re uncertain about a light, contact our team!

Malfunction Indicator Lamp

The Malfunction Indicator Lamp appears as the outline of an engine. If it lights up, it may mean there is an issue with your emissions-control system. To have the issue fixed, you’ll want to schedule a service appointment. It’s also important to drive at a low speed if possible.

If the light is blinking, something may be malfunctioning within the engine cylinders. Stop the vehicle in a safe location and turn the engine off. After 10 minutes have passed, start up the engine and head to a local service center.

Low Oil Pressure Indicator

The low oil pressure Indicator looks like a can of oil with a drop near the spout. You’ll see it when your engine oil pressure drops too low.

Find a safe place to stop and turn the engine off. Let the engine cool for a few minutes, then check the oil level under the hood. If it’s low and you have oil on hand, refill to the right level. If you don’t have oil on hand or the light still comes on when you restart the car, call for towing to the nearest service center.

Supplemental Restraint System Indicator

The Supplemental Restraint System Indicator looks like a large circle above a strapped in passenger. It symbolizes issues with your seatbelts or side/curtain airbag systems. You will want to schedule a maintenance appointment to have your restraint systems inspected and fixed if needed.

Vehicle Stability Assist™ (VSA®) System Indicator

The Vehicle Stability Assist™ (VSA®) System Indicator looks like the back of a vehicle with two swerving lines behind it. When the system is in use, the light will blink.

If, however, the light stays on steadily, you may have an issue with either the VSA® system or the hill start assist feature. Schedule an appointment with our service team to get the issue fixed.

Fog Light Indicator

The fog light indicator looks like a half sphere with three horizontal lines to the left. There is also one vertical line running through the horizontal lines. This light will appear to let you know the fog lights are on.

Auto Idle Stop Indicator

The Auto Idle Stop indicator looks like a capital letter “A” and an arrow going around it. The symbol will be green when you’re using the system. If you have the system off, the symbol will instead appear as an amber color. If the symbol is blinking, you may have an issue with the Auto Idle Stop system, so you’ll want to schedule an appointment with a technician.
