The New Honda Civic Type R is track-ready and waiting for you. Photo Credit: Falcon® Photography Enthusiasts have been begging Honda to bring the track-ready Civic Type R to the United States. Now it looks like they’re getting their wish! The Japanese automaker announced that the power-packed Civic will make its way to North American shores later this spring. The new Honda Civic Type R brings more performance than any other car sold under the brand. Honda officially revealed the Civic Type R at the Geneva Motor Show, much to the pleasure of hot hatch lovers everywhere. The new model boasts a sleek, aerodynamic design with curves in all the right places. What’s more impressive and exciting is what lies under the hood. “We expect that the efficiency of this model’s engine...will provide U.S. customers with a great driving experience," said Frederic Bernard, a Honda Europe technology expert. The standard 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine churns out a massive 306 hp without breaking a sweat. That engine will come mated to a six-speed manual transmission designed to shift between gears quickly. The hot hatch has also received a tuned suspension, Brembo brakes, and other performance equipment. Expect the new Honda Civic Type R to run around the mid-$30,000 price range. The new Honda Civic Type-R is an upcoming model that has enthusiasts and speed demons raving. The Japanese automaker hasn’t been too forthcoming with the new model but it looks like someone has spotted the sport-inspired compact car in London of all places. While we’ve seen the prototype before, the Honda Civic Type-R production model is much more telling. The Civic Type-R prototype took the spotlight at the 2016 Paris Motor Show but we haven’t heard much since. Now someone has spotted not one, but two Civic Type-R models rolling through London. The Honda Civic hatchback made its debut at the Paris Motor Show and serves as the basis for the Type-R. The hatchback version of the popular compact car is set to launch next year. The Type-R is expected to launch shortly after as well. Honda hot hatches have done well in the past but designers took a different approach this time around. Instead of creating a lean, mean vehicle with an extreme look, the Type-R will boast a soft front bumper and rear diffuser. Have no fear, enthusiasts. You only need to look at the fact that the Honda Civic has been around for ten generations to realize that it’s a mainstay of the compact segment. Commonly available as either a sedan or a coupe, the Civic is a favorite of buyers looking for an affordable vehicle with great fuel economy and excellent value. Now, for 2017, Honda has given us a first glance at the new Civic hatchback, the first hatch variant of the Civic nameplate to debut since the 2003 Civic Si. The Honda Civic entered its tenth generation last fall as a four-door sedan, with the coupe joining the lineup spring 2016. The hatchback model is right on schedule, rolling out sometime late 2016. However, unlike the more modest Civic sedans and coupes, the hatchback will come standard with a turbocharged engine that’s only an option on the other two. Additionally, Honda has announced the Civic Si and Civic Type R are under development with more performance-focused powertrains. That means Civic hatchbacks will target a more sporty demographic than the standard Civic. The new Civic hatchback will arrive at the end of the month, starting at $19,700 before tax, title and destination charge. Be on the lookout for it at Schlossmann Honda City.
