Milwaukee 2022 Summer Festivals

Milwaukee 2022 Summer Festivals
It’s July and summer is just getting started here in Milwaukee. Schlossmann Honda City loves our town and the great variety of summer activities and festivals it offers. If you’re looking for somewhere to take the family in a great new Honda, we have some recommendations. Whether you’re looking for some great tunes or some great food, there are lots to do this summer in Milwaukee.

Brady Street Festival

The Brady Street Festival provides 9 blocks of entertainment this year, starting at 11 AM and running through midnight on July 30th. You’ll enjoy three stages of great local bands and performers alongside streets filled with local food and vendors. Watch the BMX Stunt Team do demonstrations, thrill to the action at the Great Lakes Wrestling Club Casablanca Rumble, and test your abilities on the Adventure Rock rock climbing wall. Musical acts cover a wide variety of genres so there’s something for everyone at the Brady Street Festival this year.

Milwaukee A La Carte At The Zoo

This one is a family favorite. Milwaukee A La Carte At The Zoo includes a combination of big musical acts and the great animals at the zoo. The festival will be held between August 18th-21st this year, with gates opening at 11 AM. Each day has a different main stage headliner. Acts include Bella Cain, Spin Doctors, and more! Besides the great acts and great animals, you’ll enjoy some of the best local food Milwaukee has to offer from local favorites like Scrima’s Pizza, Nothing Bundt Cakes, and many, many more.

Art & Chalk Fest 2022

If you’re looking for a visual feast instead of the more conventional variety, the Art & Chalk Fest 2022 is a great option. Held at the Museum of Wisconsin Art from August 20th to the 21st, this festival includes a great variety of local Wisconsin artists. Watch live demonstrations of things like ceramics, pottery, glass blowing, and, of course, chalk art. Pick up the chalk yourself in the community activity zone and create your own art. There are even balloon artists for the kids!

Milwaukee Oktoberfest

The 12th Annual Milwaukee Oktoberfest happens from August 26th through the 28th at the War Memorial Center. Music and lots of your favorite pretzels and brats will be on hand. There’s more to the fun than just the food. Beauty of all kinds will be celebrated with the Miss Oktoberfest Pageant and, our favorite, the Wiener Dog Beauty Pageant. What are your plans this summer? 🎆 Fourth of July Road Trip Tips & Safety Checklist

The Fourth of July is one of the most popular holidays for road trips across the country — and for good reason! With fireworks, family barbecues, and warm weather, it’s the perfect time to hit the road. But with millions of Americans traveling, it's also one of the busiest (and sometimes most dangerous) weekends to be on the highway. Before you head out for your Independence Day adventure, check out these expert tips to make your trip safe, smooth, and stress-free. 🚘 1. Prep Your Vehicle for the Journey Before loading up the car, take a few minutes to check the following: Tire pressure and tread: Hot pavement can wreak havoc on underinflated or worn tires. Brake function: Make sure your brakes are responsive and not making noise. Fluid levels: Top off your oil, coolant, windshield washer fluid, and transmission fluid. Battery condition: Heat can strain a battery — get it tested if it’s more than three years old. Air conditioning: You don’t want to discover it’s not working after you're already on the freeway in 90-degree weather. 👉 Need a quick inspection before your trip? Schedule a multi-point check at Schlossmann Honda City. 🧳 2. Pack Smart — Safety First Make sure your vehicle is stocked with road trip essentials, including: Emergency kit (jumper cables, flashlight, first-aid supplies) Extra phone charger and power bank Bottled water and snacks Printed directions as backup to GPS Sunglasses, sunscreen, and bug spray For families, don't forget entertainment like downloaded movies, travel games, and books for the kids. ⛽ 3. Plan Ahead for Traffic and Fuel Expect congestion, especially on July 3rd and 4th. Use navigation apps like Google Maps or Waze to: Check real-time traffic updates Find rest stops and fuel stations Identify alternate routes to avoid bottlenecks ⛽ Pro tip: Gas prices often spike around the holiday. Fill up a day early to save at the pump. 🔥 4. Drive Defensively — and Stay Alert The Fourth of July weekend unfortunately ranks among the highest for impaired driving incidents. To stay safe: Stay sober or assign a designated driver Avoid nighttime driving if possible — dusk and post-firework traffic can be chaotic Watch for pedestrians in neighborhoods and park areas Buckle up everyone, even on short trips If you see a driver swerving or behaving erratically, keep your distance and report them if necessary. 🎇 5. Enjoy the Ride! Most importantly, give yourself plenty of time to enjoy your trip. Don’t rush, and allow for rest breaks — especially if you’re driving long distances. Whether you're heading to the lake, the cabin, or Grandma’s backyard cookout, the Fourth is about celebrating freedom, family, and fun. 🧨 From all of us at Schlossmann Honda City, have a safe and happy Independence Day!

🚗 Get Road Trip Ready: Top Vehicle Prep Tips for Memorial Day Weekend

Memorial Day weekend marks the unofficial start of summer — and one of the busiest travel times of the year. Whether you’re heading to the lake, visiting family, or simply enjoying a scenic drive, the last thing you want is car trouble putting a damper on your plans. Before you hit the road, make sure your vehicle is as ready for adventure as you are. Here's your ultimate pre-road trip checklist to ensure safety, comfort, and peace of mind. ✅ 1. Check Your Tires Your tires are your vehicle’s only contact with the road, so their condition is critical. Tread Depth: Use the penny test — insert a penny into the tread with Lincoln’s head down. If you can see all of it, it's time for new tires. Tire Pressure: Check your pressure when tires are cool and adjust according to your owner’s manual or door jamb sticker. Spare Tire: Don’t forget to check your spare, too! 💡 Pro Tip: Stop by Schlossmann Honda City for a tire inspection this May! 🔋 2. Test the Battery A weak battery is one of the most common causes of unexpected breakdowns. Heat, frequent short trips, and age can all take a toll. Look for signs of corrosion on terminals. Test the voltage if your battery is more than 3 years old. Have it checked during a routine inspection. 🛢 3. Stay on Top of Oil & Fluids Clean fluids keep your engine running smoothly and prevent overheating. Oil: If it’s due for a change or looks dark and gritty, schedule a service. Coolant: Essential for temperature regulation. Brake, power steering, transmission fluids: Check levels and top off as needed. Washer fluid: Keep it full for clear vision on dusty or buggy roads. 💨 4. Inspect the A/C and Cabin Air Filter You don’t want to find out your air conditioning doesn’t work when you're stuck in Memorial Day traffic. A/C Performance: Ensure cold air flows quickly and consistently. Cabin Air Filter: Replacing a dirty filter improves airflow and air quality. 🔦 5. Check Lights, Wipers, and Visibility Headlights & Taillights: Inspect for outages and cloudiness. Windshield Wipers: If they streak or squeak, it’s time to replace them. Clean Your Windows: Inside and out, to reduce glare and improve visibility. 🧰 6. Pack an Emergency Kit Be prepared for the unexpected with these essentials: Jumper cables Flashlight First-aid kit Bottled water and snacks Cell phone charger Roadside flares or triangles 🛠 BONUS: Let Us Help You Get Road Trip Ready!
